Database Administrator - Cloud Platform Infrastructure

3Cloud is looking for an experienced Database Administrator who is comfortable managing multiple deadlines and varied customer requests. A strong OS background is preferred due to the many migration assessments and implementations required by the position. Experience with Azure is a must, along with flexible and creative analytical skills to fit the solution to the customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Work as a DBA for multiple customers, helping with Database Migrations, High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions, SQL and Windows Clustering solutions, Monitoring, Backup/Recovery solutions, and Performance Tuning including remediation on performance blockers
• Manage multiple long-term database (Azure data services) projects at the same time
• Able to scope, plan, implement, and document and/or present a solution to the customer
• Provide cost effective Azure platforms to meet customer requirements
• Be able to work with Development, Test, and Production environments to support customer requirements at each level of work
• Assist with Security definitions and roles for various users in the environments and support Azure Infrastructure team in provisioning data services in Azure cloud
• Manage client expectations with regards to scope, cost, and timeline.
• Author high quality project documentation and other project artifacts, including written case studies detailing use cases and project specifics
• Be an effective technical mentor to more junior level teammates.
• Deliver complex projects on-time and within budget, proactively identifying and mitigating gaps and risks.
• Expand your knowledge in multiple tools and technologies.
• Foster a problem-solving culture that resolves issues through collaboration and partnerships with other parts of the organization.
• Support internal 3Cloud objectives that help advance data services design and techniques.
• Support the Sales Team on Presales efforts to define scope estimates for most projects when bandwidth allows.
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer, engineering, data science or a related field; or equivalent work experience
• Has the ability to work both strategically and tactically in different customer environments.
• Must be EXTREMELY detail oriented and self-directed
• Must be able to produce high-quality documentation for both internal and external distribution
• Must have multiple years working with a major RDBMS (Oracle/SQL Server) – preference given to deep experience with Microsoft products
• Should have done a few databases migration from different cloud platform/or on-prem to Azure.
• Moderate experience with OS clustering concepts and technologies.
• Understanding of security roles and how to implement database security
• Advanced level experience at the implementation and appropriate use of the following HA/DR technologies: Always On AG, Replication, Log shipping, Mirroring
• Advanced level experience with database objects/stored procedures
• Advanced level experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and trouble shooting.
• Have a strong understanding of Cloud Infrastructure solutions and the delivery/execution of how they are implemented using IaC (Bicep or Terraform)
• Drive to maintain knowledge of the latest technologies and how they may impact existing 3Cloud offerings
• Understanding of cloud ecosystem and leading-edge cloud emerging technologies.
• Performance analysis, troubleshooting and remediation techniques.
• Strong analytical problem-solving ability.
• Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a virtual project team
  
  

Additional Preferred Experience:

• You have over 2 years of experience in the following:
• Designing and implementing logical and physical data models for cloud and hybrid data warehouse environments
• Implementing data architectures to support a variety of data formats and structures including structured, semi-structured and unstructured data
• Implementing multiple full life-cycle data warehouses
• Understanding of data architectures required to support data integration processing
• Data modeling technologies such as ER/Studio, ER/Win or similar
• Microsoft Azure Data Platform services including Azure Data Lake Store, Azure Storage, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL database, Logic Apps, APIs
• Data profiling and creation of source to target mappings
• Ability to provision and configure Azure data service resources
