Job Description

We are seeking a Certified UK Bookkeeper to independently manage the full cycle of financial operations for our UK entity, providing critical support for annual reporting. This role requires a highly detail-oriented professional with deep expertise in Xero and a proven track record of handling day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including preparing quarterly VAT returns, performing comprehensive bank reconciliations, and overseeing accurate payroll and pension administration. The ideal candidate must hold a relevant UK accounting certification (AAT or equivalent preferred) and demonstrate an excellent grasp of HMRC compliance and UK accounting standards, with the ability to manage deadlines effectively and work independently.


Job Highlights

Hourly Rate: The equivalent of $9.00 USD per hour in the applicant’s local currency

Number of Paid Hours Per Week: 20 hours per week

Schedule: Monday-Friday 9AM-1PM

Work Arrangement: Work from home

Contract: Independent Contractor


Side Note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an “Independent Contractor,” the selected candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records using Xero accounting software.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns and support compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Oversee payroll and pension administration, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support the preparation of annual accounts for external accountants.
  • Maintain clear documentation and assist with audits as required.


Requirements

  • Certified or Trained in bookkeeping/accountancy as required under UK law (AAT or equivalent preferred).
  • Proven experience with Xero and UK bookkeeping processes.
  • Strong understanding of VAT, payroll, and pension obligations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
