About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Australia (AU) Bookkeeper to support our Australian client base. This role goes beyond simple data entry; it requires a professional who can apply critical thinking to financial transactions, ensure absolute consistency in coding, and provide high-value communication to clients. You will serve as the first line of defense in ensuring data integrity before files reach our accountants.

Work hours: Mondays - Fridays ; 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Philippine Time

Work set-up: Remote

Holiday Observance: Both Philippine Public Holidays and all Queensland (Australia) Public Holidays

What you’ll do

Financial Reconciliation & Data Integrity

• Hubdoc to Xero Verification: Actively manage the document flow and ensure every reconciled transaction is backed by source documentation.
• AP/AR Management: Maintain 100% accuracy in Accounts Payable and Receivable ledgers, ensuring no duplicates items remain.
• Coding Consistency: Review historical coding to ensure expenses are allocated to the exact same account every time to avoid ledger fragmentation.

Client Communication & Query Management

• Contextual Query Drafting: Clear uncoded statement lines by sending "deep thought" queries that provide context (Vendor, Amount, Frequency) rather than singular-word questions.
• Proactive Problem Solving: Identify missing information and suggest solutions to the client rather than just highlighting the problem.

Australian Compliance & Technical Application

• GST & Tax Knowledge: Apply expert knowledge of Australian GST laws to transactions, ensuring tax codes are applied correctly based on invoice type.
• Compliance Reporting: Prepare BAS, IAS, TPAR, and Superannuation reports with a heavy focus on accuracy and self-review.

What You Bring

• Must have 3–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Proven experience supporting an Australian client base.
• Certifications: Must hold Xero and AU Bookkeeping certifications.
• Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
• Software Mastery (Required): Advanced proficiency in Xero, Hubdoc, and Excel.
• Software (Preferred): Experience with FYI Docs and Xbert (audit/error detection)
• Compliance (Required): Hands-on experience preparing BAS, IAS, TPAR, and Superannuation.
• Critical Thinking: Ability to draft "deep thought" queries and spot anomalies like missing recurring bills.
• Communication: Excellent written English with an advisory, professional tone.
• A goal-oriented team player who can work autonomously with minimal supervision
