Job Overview

Our client is looking for an integral member to join an established Australian company’s financial operations team, taking ownership of their complete bookkeeping cycle from daily transactions to monthly compliance submissions. This role offers the stability of a long-term partnership with a client who values consistency and professional growth. You’ll work directly with their existing Australian accounting team while managing the essential preparatory work that keeps their business compliant and financially organized.


Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, AEST (20 work hours per week, flexible during business hours)

Responsibilities

  • Enter business transactions from bank accounts directly into Xero accounting software
  • Download and import bank account data into Xero to streamline data entry processes
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of all business accounts and transactions
  • Prepare and consolidate financial reports for monthly BAS statement submissions
  • Handle end-of-year tax preparation work and account consolidation
  • Manage catch-up work for previous tax periods during the initial months
  • Ensure timely completion of monthly BAS statements and compliance deadlines
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records in Xero
  • Collaborate with Australian accountants for final tax submissions
  • Provide regular progress reports and maintain clear communication


Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Xero certification and advanced proficiency required
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian tax system and BAS requirements
  • Experience with Australian tax compliance and reporting
  • Ability to work Australian business hours and maintain schedule alignment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry
  • Reliable internet connection and professional home office setup
  • Bonus if you have experience with bank data importing and automation
  • It helps if you’re familiar with end-of-year tax preparation processes


Side Note

  • This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits. Professional hourly fees are established based on your performance in the application process.
