Job Title: Artwork Production Assistant

Location: Remote

Reports To: Creative Director

Work Shift: UK Hours with overlap

Working Hours: Full-time initially, with flexibility to adjust based on workload

Job Description

We are seeking an Artwork Production Assistant to support the preparation of print-ready artwork files for a growing direct-to-consumer art business.

This role is primarily focused on production. The core responsibility is to take artwork that is suitable for web use, upscale it using AI tools, review it for quality issues, and prepare final files for print. The process requires judgment and visual quality control, as upscaled images can introduce artifacts and other issues that need to be checked and corrected before a file is ready for production.

The business operates on a print-on-demand model and is currently processing around 100 to 150 orders per day. Because artwork is initially created for website use rather than print, each design needs to be converted into a print-ready file once it begins selling. This role is intended to take over that production-heavy workflow so the Creative Director can spend more time on art creation, marketing, and growth.

This is the first external hire into the business and is intended to be a lean, execution-focused role. Over time, there may be room to grow into broader responsibilities, including supporting future team management or contributing more directly to creative work, but the immediate need is strong hands-on artwork production capability.

Key Responsibilities

Artwork Production

  • Prepare print-ready artwork files from source images created for web use
  • Upscale artwork using AI tools such as Gigapixel or similar software
  • Review enlarged files for artifacts, blur, color inconsistencies, and other image quality issues
  • Use Photoshop to inspect, refine, and finalize artwork for production
  • Ensure files are prepared at the correct size and quality for print output
  • Follow internal workflows and SOPs to maintain consistency across all production files

Quality Control

  • Conduct detailed visual QA on upscaled and edited artwork files
  • Identify problems that may affect final print quality
  • Make image corrections and adjustments where needed
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy and consistency before files are approved for production

Workflow Support

  • Work closely with the Creative Director to learn and follow the current production process
  • Help reduce production bottlenecks by taking ownership of repeatable artwork preparation tasks
  • Support a lean internal workflow that can scale as order volume grows
  • Maintain organized file handling and handoff processes for production readiness

Secondary Support

  • Assist with light customer service support when needed
  • Support other adjacent tasks such as outreach or creative support if capacity allows
  • Take on additional responsibilities over time as the business grows and the team expands

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong understanding of Photoshop or the Adobe Suite for image editing
  • Strong attention to detail and visual quality control
  • Comfortable working with image resolution, print preparation, and file refinement
  • Ability to follow structured workflows and repeatable production processes
  • Good written English communication skills
  • Ability to learn and use AI-based upscaling tools
  • Good visual judgment when reviewing image quality
  • Access to a laptop capable of handling image upscaling workflows, with strong RAM preferred based on current process requirements

Nice to Have

  • Experience preparing print-ready files
  • Experience using AI image upscaling tools such as Gigapixel
  • Experience in artwork production, print production, or image processing roles
  • Customer service experience
  • Interest in growing into broader production or creative support responsibilities over time
