Our client is looking for an energetic and persistent Appointment Setter to act as the first point of contact for local businesses. In this high-volume outbound calling role, you will connect with business owners using provided directories, introduce them to community advertising opportunities using a proven script, and schedule qualified appointments for the sales team. This position is vital for expanding the publication's network of business supporters and driving local community engagement.


Client Overview

Our client is a community-focused publication company that produces neighborhood magazines connecting local businesses with area residents. They work with business owners and foundations across multiple industries to support community engagement through advertising partnerships. The company is scaling their outreach efforts and needs dedicated support to reach more local businesses.


Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 01:00 PM - 05:00 PM Central Time (20 hours per week)


Responsibilities

  • Make outbound cold calls to local businesses using provided Chamber of Commerce directories and prospect lists
  • Follow a simple, proven script to introduce the publication and advertising opportunity to business owners
  • Schedule qualified appointments for the sales team to present the full advertising partnership
  • Reach out to businesses across all industries including contractors, salons, hearing centers, jewelry stores, and home service providers
  • Maintain consistent call volume during scheduled blocks to maximize appointment setting
  • Communicate appointment details and prospect information clearly to the sales team
  • Adapt calling approach based on different business owner schedules and availability
  • Persist through the challenges of cold calling while maintaining a professional and charismatic tone


Requirements

  • Proven recent experience as an appointment setter, cold caller, or outreach specialist
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage business owners over the phone
  • Persistence and resilience in handling cold calling rejections
  • Ability to work independently and maintain productivity during scheduled hours
  • Comfortable following scripts while adding natural conversation flow
  • Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace for making calls


Qualifications

  • Bonus if you have experience calling businesses in specific industries like home services, salons, or contractors
  • It helps if you have worked with Chamber of Commerce directories or similar business lists
  • Bonus if you have experience in publishing, advertising, or media sales environments
