This is a newly created role on our team, though the function itself is well established in the Amazon reseller world and we have team members (including our current PPC lead) who already work in this space. You will own Amazon SEO across the SawyerSoles catalog: titles, bullets, product descriptions, backend search terms, A+ content opportunities, indexing, and keyword research. Today, listing creation prioritizes speed and volume, and SEO work happens reactively. Your job is to install a structured, repeatable SEO framework that runs in parallel with new listing creation and progressively works through our existing top-revenue ASINs.
You will work alongside our Catalog and Listing Lead (who owns variation structure, flat files, and Amazon Seller Support escalations) and our PPC and Listing Optimization Specialist (who owns paid traffic and has begun the DataDive rollout). SEO is the missing third pillar, and the team has explicitly asked for someone to own it.
Responsibilities
Build the SEO Framework (First 1 to 2 Weeks)
Stand up a documented, repeatable SEO framework covering title structure (brand, product type, gender, color, key features, size hierarchy), bullet structure (benefit-led, not feature-led), product description, A+ content, and backend search terms
Define keyword research methodology using DataDive as the primary tool and Helium 10 as the secondary tool. Document the workflow end-to-end with Loom video walkthroughs in English
Build a clear hierarchy of information: what comes first in the title, what drives visibility, where each keyword class should live
Publish SOPs to the teams master SOP sheet and train the catalog team (Milica, Bojana) on the new standards
Own SEO Execution on Priority ASINs
Build a tiered prioritization model for SEO investment: high-velocity Nike Team replenishment ASINs and listings tied to original UPCs get full optimization; closeout or short-lifecycle items get a lighter pass
Optimize new listings at the point of creation. Partner with the catalog team so SEO is built in upfront rather than retroactively cleaned up
Work systematically through the existing catalog (roughly 2,500 to 2,800 ASINs) from highest revenue and lowest current quality, optimizing titles, bullets, descriptions, and backend search terms
Track before and after performance per optimized ASIN: rank movement, session count, conversion rate, and unit velocity
DataDive and Keyword Research Operations
Take ownership of the DataDive workflow that our PPC lead has begun rolling out. Refine, deepen, and standardize it
Build keyword libraries by product category (Nike Team apparel, Adidas, footwear, accessories) that feed both SEO and PPC
Coordinate with our PPC lead so SEO keyword research and PPC campaign keywords are unified, not duplicated
Stay current on Amazon search algorithm changes, Rufus and AI-search behavior, and best practices for indexing on reseller listings (no Brand Registry access)
Catalog Quality and SEO-Adjacent Cleanup
Identify listings underperforming due to catalog issues (bad titles, weak images, missing backend attributes, suppressed detail pages) and coordinate fixes with the catalog team
Partner with catalog on image quality standards: define minimum resolution rules, document approved image sources, and contribute to a centralized image-source database
Flag and route variation structure problems, missing attributes, and inconsistent color or value data that are dragging rank
Reporting and Measurement
Deliver a weekly SEO performance report: ASINs optimized, before and after KPIs, current backlog, and the next weeks priorities
Build a monthly rollup that ties SEO work to catalog-level outcomes (organic session growth, conversion lift, organic rank movement on tracked keywords)
Maintain a living SEO scorecard the leadership team can review
Requirements
3+ years of hands-on Amazon SEO and listing optimization experience, ideally for an Amazon reseller, agency, or aggregator (not just a 1P brand owner)
Deep proficiency with DataDive or equivalent (Helium 10 Cerebro and Magnet, Jungle Scout, SmartScout)
Demonstrated ability to write Amazon titles, bullets, descriptions, and backend search terms that move rank. Bring portfolio examples to the interview
Strong understanding of how Amazons A9 and COSMO algorithms behave for reseller listings vs. brand-owner listings (different leverage points, no Brand Registry tools)
Hands-on experience with Amazon bulk operations: flat files, listing loader, Variation Wizard, Amazon Master files, and variation family fixes. You will be expected to execute these directly when needed
Comfortable working in large catalogs (1,000+ ASINs) with constrained brand assets. Must be resourceful at sourcing images, color data, and product information from supplier sites and brand pages
Excellent written English. Comfortable producing SOPs, Loom walkthroughs, and structured written updates
Strong working proficiency with AI tools, especially Claude (also ChatGPT, Gemini, or equivalents). You should already be using AI daily for keyword expansion, competitor analysis, copy drafting, SOP creation, and workflow automation. We will provide a Claude Pro account, and we expect you to make it core to your workflow
Prompt engineering skill: ability to structure prompts that produce high-quality Amazon SEO outputs (titles, bullets, descriptions, backend search terms) without endless back-and-forth
Nice-to-Have
Prior experience in athletic, apparel, or footwear categories on Amazon
Familiarity with PPC fundamentals so SEO and PPC keyword libraries can be unified
Experience connecting Claude or similar tools to data sources (Google Drive, Gmail, Asana, Slack) for cross-referenced reporting and analysis
Multi-marketplace SEO experience (Amazon CA, Amazon MX, TikTok Shop, Temu, Shein) for future scope expansion
Tools Youll Use Daily
DataDive (primary keyword and competitor research)
Helium 10 (secondary)
Amazon Seller Central (Catalog, Manage Inventory, Business Reports, Brand Analytics where available, flat files, A+ Content Manager)
Keepa, SellerSnap, Sellerboard (for context and performance data)
