Job Description

Company Description

In 2019, we started building profitable startups from scratch. We brought together top engineering minds from places like Princeton and MIT to drive the highest success rate in the industry and turn company building into a science.

During that time, we’ve built ten high-growth companies, driving $200M+ in revenue. Along the way, we’ve developed an engineering approach to entrepreneurship rooted in algorithms and advanced mathematics.

Now, we’re working to automate company building to the point that we can press a button to launch profitable companies—ventures that can reinvest their own resources to become enterprises that help millions, or even billions, of people.

Position Description

The Operations Engineering (OE) team is a cross-functional team that builds and maintains the systems, automations, and workflows powering our portfolio companies. OEs are paired directly with Mission Leaders as high-context operators, building a deep understanding of their business and owning initiatives that move it forward. OEs also deploy specialized skills across companies as demand shifts, bringing their domain expertise wherever it creates the most impact.

As an Operations Engineer, you are expected to operate comfortably in high-context environments, with the ability to understand complex problems and design cross-platform systems that connect people, data, and tools. You are a versatile contributor who can both support fellow Operations Engineers and independently lead owned projects from definition through execution. You integrate seamlessly into an established multidisciplinary team, collaborating across a wide range of skill sets and responsibilities spanning the company.

This is a role for someone who is energized by variety, comfortable in ambiguity, and driven to build things that create lasting leverage for the teams they support.

What You’ll Do

Deliver Reliable, High-Quality Work

  • Execute clearly scoped tasks and projects with a high standard for quality, following team conventions and established patterns.
  • Learn the Mechanism OS—understand not just how work gets done, but why decisions are made the way they are.
  • Communicate proactively: share progress, flag blockers early, and confirm assumptions before investing significant time.

Adopt a Skill Domain and Operate Within the OE Capability Stack

  • Build and maintain structured data models, clean datasets, and develop automated workflows using tools like Google Apps Script, N8N, and Make.
  • Support the creation of data pipelines, write SQL queries to extract and transform data, and assist in building dashboards in Looker, Metabase, or Periscope.
  • Integrate AI tools and APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Klaviyo) into existing workflows to automate repetitive processes and unlock operational efficiency.
  • Build and iterate on web pages, product landing pages, and UI components using Webflow, Replo, Shopify Builder, and React/Tailwind as needed.
  • Plan, execute, and manage paid media and SEO initiatives in support of growth experiments, including campaign setup, performance monitoring, and iterative optimization across channels.
  • Extract, structure, and clean data from web sources to support research, competitive analysis, and operational initiatives using Octoparse and scripting tools.
  • Take on ad-hoc operational, administrative, and research tasks that reduce bottlenecks and enable stakeholders to stay focused on their core work.

Grow Into Ownership and Domain Specialization

  • Progress from executing scoped tasks with guidance to independently owning end-to-end projects.
  • Independently diagnose recurring operational problems, design the underlying solution, and build durable automations, playbooks, or workflows that permanently eliminate manual work—for yourself and your teammates.
  • Deepen expertise in a primary domain and develop enough fluency in a secondary domain to provide cross-team support.
  • Build the judgment to know when to escalate, when to proceed, and when to ask—at every level.

Who You Are

  • You are resourceful and adapt quickly in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, operating as a self-starter who helps build the playbook through curiosity, sound judgment, and a growth mindset.
  • You bring extreme grit, integrity, resilience, and relentless follow-through—you don’t drop the ball.
  • You are humble and genuine, never afraid to ask for help, seek feedback, or seriously consider perspectives different from your own, and you engage with others in an enthusiastic, professional manner.
  • You are energized by the work itself, thriving in fast-paced, evolving environments and taking ownership of initiatives from start to finish.
  • You hold yourself to a high standard without ego—we have a strict no-jerk policy and zero tolerance for intellectual arrogance.
  • You are intellectually honest and grounded in data, prioritizing truth over ego and viewing direct feedback as the fastest path to better decisions and outcomes.
  • You maintain a high say/do ratio, taking extreme ownership of your commitments and consistently delivering work to a high standard without the need for follow-up.
  • You approach every task with a test-and-learn mindset, always looking for ways to improve, adapt, and add value.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong analytical thinking, data literacy, and comfort working with data in spreadsheets or databases.
  • Strong foundational proficiency within at least one skills domain of the Operations Engineering capability stack, with the ability to operate effectively across adjacent domains as needed.
  • Familiarity with at least one automation or workflow tool (N8N, Make, Zapier, or similar).
  • Basic-to-intermediate proficiency in Spreadsheets or SQL, or a demonstrated ability to develop it quickly.
  • Exposure to AI tools (OpenAI, Anthropic, or equivalents) and an intuition for where they can be applied.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills—clear, concise, and context-aware.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines without constant oversight.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with frontend tools such as Webflow, Replo, React, or Shopify Builder.
  • Proficiency in data visualization platforms (Looker, Metabase, Periscope, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with web scraping tools or scripting (Octoparse, Python, etc.).
  • Background in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
  • Experience supporting startup or venture environments.

Time Commitment

  • This role is full-time and will need to overlap with US ET for the majority of the workday.

Location

  • We are fully remote – you can work wherever you’re most productive.
