As policy volume grows and renewals increase, agents need a reliable partner to manage market shopping, renewals, documentation, and carrier coordination. Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- Strong Commercial Insurance Knowledge – Experience with P&C, commercial auto, or contractor-focused insurance
- Quoting & Market Shopping Experience – Ability to work with multiple carriers, compare options, and support agents with proposals
- CRM & Systems Proficiency – Experience working in insurance CRMs and maintaining clean, accurate records
- Exceptional Attention to Detail – Accuracy matters; you’re thorough with applications, endorsements, and documentation
- Highly Organized & Efficient – Able to manage multiple policies, deadlines, and carrier follow-ups without dropping the ball
Nice-to-Haves:
- Construction or Contractor Insurance Experience – Strong plus
- Active Property & Casualty License – Preferred but not required
- Underwriter Coordination Experience – Familiarity handling back-and-forth with carriers on loss runs, audits, or clarifications
- Apple Ecosystem Familiarity – Preferred (Numbers, Pages, iMessage), but adaptable problem-solvers are welcome
Responsibilities of the Insurance Account Manager:
Your responsibilities include:
Market Shopping & Quoting
- Shop insurance policies with multiple carriers for new business and renewals
- Enter client data into online rating systems and carrier applications
- Review and compare multiple quotes to identify the best 1–3 options for agents
- Coordinate with underwriters to resolve missing information or clarifications
- Negotiate terms and pricing with carriers when possible
- Bind coverage once proposals are approved and signed
Renewal Management
- Manage and process 30–150 policy renewals per month
- Send renewal questionnaires to confirm changes in operations, payroll, or risk
- Identify exposure changes and update applications accordingly
- Ensure renewals are completed accurately and on time to maintain high retention
Administrative & Data Management
- Complete and review insurance applications and supporting documents
- Maintain accurate records in the CRM and shared file systems
- Ensure all accounts are current, organized, and running smoothly on the backend
Client & Carrier Communication
- Handle client communication primarily via email
- Relay questions between underwriters and insureds regarding losses or documentation
- Send proposals via DocuSign and follow up on unsigned documents
- Call clients as needed to ensure policies are bound before expiration
Financial & Audit Support
- Assist with premium collection, invoicing, and finance agreements
- Support workers’ compensation audits by gathering payroll and compliance documents
- Step in to help when clients are unresponsive to carrier audit requests
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with one or two assigned agents based on workload
- Participate in cross-training to support the team as needed
- Communicate internally using messaging and phone systems
