Family Law Paralegal

Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Family Law Paralegal to provide expert legal services in family law matters for Australian clients. The ideal candidate will have in-depth expertise in the Australian legal system and a proven track record managing complex family law cases, including divorce, child custody, property settlements, and spousal maintenance. This role is perfect for a lawyer who excels in both negotiation and litigation and has a client-focused approach in often emotionally charged legal situations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute legal strategy on a range of family law matters including parenting orders, divorce, property division, and spousal maintenance.
• Draft, review, and file court documents such as affidavits, consent orders, and binding financial agreements.
• Provide compassionate legal counsel to clients navigating emotionally sensitive situations.
• Conduct legal research and keep up to date with changes in Australian family law.
• Collaborate with other remote legal professionals and support staff to ensure smooth case progression.
• Maintain meticulous case records and utilize legal software for matter management and client communication.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) with knowledge of family law.
• 3+ years of direct experience handling complex family law cases.
• Demonstrated ability to manage matters from intake through resolution, both in court and through ADR methods.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with sensitivity to the emotional nature of family law.
• Familiarity with legal practice management tools and remote work systems.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of service and integrity.
• Strong time management and organizational skills in a fully remote environment.
