The Role

Were looking for an experienced Design Manager who can wear multiple hats: team leader, client partner, problem-solver, and growth driver. This is a full-time, fully remote role where youll be the bridge between our clients and our design team — ensuring every project exceeds expectations while keeping our designers motivated and productive.


Your day-to-day will include:


Client Management (40%)

  • Own client relationships as the main point of contact
  • Interpret briefs, manage expectations, and communicate project updates
  • Handle escalations, complaints, and quality concerns with professionalism
  • Identify upselling opportunities and prevent churn through proactive relationship management


Team Leadership (40%)

  • Manage and coordinate a team of remote designers
  • Assign projects based on designer strengths, availability, and client needs
  • Provide feedback, mentorship, and quality control
  • Balance workload to meet deadlines without burning out your team


Operations & Growth (20%)

  • Prioritize requests when capacity is tight
  • Spot opportunities to upgrade clients or add services
  • Collaborate with leadership on process improvements and team efficiency
  • Use project management tools to keep everything running smoothly


What Were Looking For

Must-Haves

  • 3+ years managing designers or creative teams (agency or in-house)
  • Proven client management experience — youve been the main point of contact and know how to keep clients happy
  • Problem-solving skills — youve handled difficult clients, quality disputes, and last-minute fires
  • Sales or upselling experience — youre comfortable having growth conversations and spotting opportunities
  • Strong communication — clear, confident, and professional on calls, emails, and Slack
  • Systems-minded — experience with project management tools (Asana, ClickUp, Monday, Notion, etc.)
  • GMT availability — you can work during UK business hours for real-time collaboration


Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in subscription or retainer-based models
  • Background in design (you speak the language and can critique work)
  • Track record of client retention and account growth
  • Startup or fast-paced agency experience
