About The Role
Our client is seeking a passionate volleyball enthusiast to produce engaging stories and social content for their volleyball blog and newsletter. This role combines digital journalism, storytelling, and social media content creation. The ideal candidate lives and breathes volleyball — from NCAA rivalries to Olympic qualifiers and professional beach tours.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and track original volleyball stories from outlets like VolleyTalk, NCAA News, AVCA, and Volleyball World.
- Monitor developing storylines across men’s, women’s, juniors, beach, Olympic, and pro levels.
- Write 2-5 articles per week (news, features, and commentary) for the blog and newsletter.
- Create newsletter blurbs summarizing matches, results, and upcoming events.
- Post one engaging volleyball video per day across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, sourcing viral clips and providing captions aligned with trends.
- Collaborate with the editorial team to align articles and social content.
- Monitor forums and social media for emerging stories and trends.
- Pitch and plan weekly content calendars with the managing editor.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills with a conversational yet credible tone.
- Deep knowledge of the volleyball ecosystem (NCAA, club, beach, pro, international).
- Ability to research, pitch, and develop stories independently.
- Familiarity with TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts content formats.
- Self-driven, organized, and able to meet deadlines remotely.
- Preferred: journalism or communications background, SEO knowledge, or experience with social analytics tools.
- Consistent delivery of high-quality volleyball content.
- Steady output of engaging short-form video content that grows the social following.
- Increased blog readership, newsletter subscriptions, and audience engagement.
- Recognition as an authentic and informed voice in the volleyball community.
