The Role

This is a full-time remote (working Sydney-based hours) position for a Bookkeeper who thrives in structured environments, enjoys process improvement, and takes pride in financial accuracy.


You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting requirements, and ensuring compliance across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and reconciliations.


Key ResponsibilitiesCore Bookkeeping

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Post journals and adjustments
  • Maintain accurate chart of accounts
  • Ensure complete supporting documentation for transactions

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process supplier invoices and manage payment schedules
  • Raise and issue customer invoices
  • Record customer payments and follow up overdue accounts
  • Reconcile supplier and debtor statements
  • Maintain ageing reports

Bank & Reconciliations

  • Perform regular bank, credit card and loan reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure accurate cash balance reporting

Payroll & Compliance Support

  • Assist with payroll processing and reconciliation
  • Maintain employee records and leave accruals
  • Prepare supporting data for BAS / GST / PAYG lodgements
  • Support audit preparation and compliance documentation

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly Profit & Loss reports
  • Prepare balance sheets and cash flow summaries
  • Assist with management reporting and budget tracking

Additional, Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain Xero accounting system
  • Improve bookkeeping workflows and controls
  • Assist with automation and system integrations where relevant
  • Attend relevant Leadership and Management meetings


About You

We are looking for someone who demonstrates:

✔ Minimum 3+ years bookkeeping experience

✔ Strong proficiency in Xero (essential)

✔ Experience supporting Australian-based businesses (highly preferred)

✔ Strong understanding of GST, BAS and payroll processes

✔ High attention to detail and reconciliation accuracy

✔ Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)

✔ Ability to work independently in a remote environment

✔ Stable internet connection and professional home workspace
