We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Startup Account Management Intern to support the day-to-day operations of participants in our ecosystem. This role will work closely with our Startup Account Manager to help maintain relationships with innovative companies building solutions in the AgeTech space. The intern will gain exposure to emerging startups, business collaborations, and the operational side of supporting a growing portfolio of companies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in startups, venture ecosystems, and innovation in aging and longevity. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of Spring/Summer 2026, with the possibility of extending additional semesters.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day account management activities for startups within the portfolio
  • Leverage the CRM to capture meeting notes, track action items, log key connections, and manage follow-ups from startup check-in calls to support ongoing relationship management
  • Track and manage follow-up tasks to ensure timely responses and engagement with startups
  • Create and maintain startup profiles within our platform, ensuring information is accurate and up to date
  • Help maintain and update the startup pipeline and ecosystem database
  • Conduct light research on startups, trends, and solutions in the AgeTech sector
  • Support administrative and operational tasks that help the team effectively manage the startup portfolio
  • Assist in identifying and capturing key insights from startup conversations, including common needs, challenges, and opportunities for collaboration
  • Assist with planning and execution of startup showcases

Learning Opportunities

  • Gain firsthand exposure to startups working in the AgeTech and longevity innovation space
  • Learn how startup ecosystems operate and how organizations support early-stage companies
  • Develop skills in account management, stakeholder engagement, and ecosystem operations
  • Build familiarity with common startup challenges, partnership models, and growth strategies

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university, considered a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or postdoctoral student, and will remain academically enrolled throughout the internship
  • Pursuing a degree in business, entrepreneurship, public health, technology, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to track multiple tasks and follow-ups
  • Interest in startups, innovation ecosystems, or the future of aging
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office programs, CRM platforms, or online collaboration tools
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset and willingness to learn

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation And Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
