Job Summary
Enigmasoft Technologies is seeking a Junior CAD Engineer to support rapid design development, mechanical modelling and prototype fabrication within its Research & Development engineering team.
The selected candidate will create and revise 3D parts and assemblies, prepare manufacturing drawings and bills of materials, and convert engineering concepts into practical components for prototyping and testing. The role will support multidisciplinary projects in renewable energy, clean technology and advanced engineering, including solar photovoltaic systems, Organic Rankine Cycle systems and carbon-capture technologies.
This position is suited to a technically curious engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, iterative design and working closely with engineers, technicians and fabrication vendors to improve designs through testing and real-world feedback.
Key Responsibilities
CAD Modelling and Assembly Design
- Create, modify and optimise accurate 3D CAD models of mechanical parts, assemblies, fixtures and prototype systems.
- Translate sketches, engineering concepts, dimensions and functional requirements into structured CAD models.
- Develop parametric models that can be updated efficiently during rapid design iterations.
- Build and review assemblies for fit, alignment, interference, accessibility and basic serviceability.
- Support senior engineers in converting early-stage concepts into practical and manufacturable components.
Drawings, BOMs and Manufacturing Documentation
- Prepare clear 2D part drawings and assembly drawings with dimensions, tolerances, material specifications and manufacturing notes.
- Create and maintain basic bills of materials (BOMs), part lists and component identification records.
- Apply appropriate drawing standards, units, revision details and document-control practices.
- Update drawings and supporting documentation whenever a design is revised following review, fabrication or testing.
Rapid Prototyping and Fabrication Support
- Prepare CAD files for 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, sheet-metal fabrication, moulding and other prototype-manufacturing processes.
- Review model orientation, wall thickness, clearances, tolerances and other design-for-manufacturing considerations before releasing files.
- Coordinate with internal fabrication personnel and external vendors to clarify drawings, dimensions, materials and manufacturing requirements.
- Inspect fabricated parts for basic dimensional accuracy, fitment and conformity with approved drawings.
- Assist in resolving fitment, assembly or manufacturability issues identified during fabrication and prototype build activities.
Design Iteration, Testing and Review
- Incorporate feedback from testing, design reviews, prototype assembly and field observations into updated CAD models.
- Participate in design reviews and clearly present model changes, constraints, assumptions and open issues.
- Support prototype assembly and testing to understand how design decisions perform under practical conditions.
- Document design changes, iteration history, lessons learned and pending improvements.
CAD Data Management and Coordination
- Maintain organised CAD libraries, folder structures, file-naming conventions and revision histories.
- Ensure released files are clearly identified and prevent outdated models or drawings from being used for fabrication.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electronics, testing and procurement teams to obtain the information required for model development.
- Manage multiple modelling and drawing tasks while meeting agreed priorities and timelines.
- Perform other related engineering and prototype-development duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Experience
- BE / B.Tech / ME / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Design or a closely related discipline.
- Zero to four years of experience in mechanical design, CAD modelling, product development, rapid prototyping or a related engineering role.
- Fresh graduates with strong CAD fundamentals, relevant academic projects, internships, competition experience or a practical portfolio are encouraged to apply.
- A portfolio or examples of CAD models, drawings, fabricated prototypes, hobby projects or personal engineering work will be an advantage.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modelling, parametric design and assembly development.
- Hands-on experience with Fusion 360 is preferred; SolidWorks or an equivalent professional CAD platform is also acceptable.
- Good understanding of mechanical fundamentals, engineering dimensions, fits, clearances and tolerances.
- Ability to create detailed part drawings and basic manufacturing-ready documentation.
- Familiarity with rapid-prototyping processes such as 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, sheet-metal fabrication or moulding.
- Awareness of basic design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles.
- Strong attention to detail, structured file management and revision-control discipline.
- Ability to work independently, accept technical feedback and manage multiple design iterations under tight timelines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or equivalent engineering documentation tools.
- Clear communication and coordination with engineers, technicians and fabrication vendors.
Technical Aptitude and Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a genuine interest in engineering, testing, fabrication and problem-solving. The role is highly practical and requires a willingness to learn from prototype failures, manufacturing constraints and repeated testing cycles.
- Strong foundational understanding of mechanics, materials, manufacturing processes and engineering physics relevant to mechanical design.
- Ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world design, fitment and prototype-development challenges.
- Practical hobbies, technical interests, engineering competitions, personal builds or experimentation experience will be preferred.
- Curiosity to understand how components are manufactured, assembled, tested and improved.
- A proactive, detail-oriented and self-motivated approach to work.
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-moving R&D environment where requirements may evolve during testing.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute beyond narrowly defined modelling tasks when required.
ROLE CLARIFICATION This is a junior engineering role with a strong focus on hands-on CAD development and prototype support. Candidates are not expected to independently own complex engineering systems from the first day, but they should demonstrate sound fundamentals, curiosity, discipline and the ability to develop rapidly under technical guidance.
