The opportunity

Hitachi Energy is currently looking for Senior Project Manager - Industrial Engineering. This strategic role is based in Vadodara and is critical to supporting our long-term investment and growth plans in the region. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in industrial engineering techniques & a passion for operational excellence, and the ability to mentor and guide a team.

This role requires a high level of cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and a deep understanding of manufacturing operations, engineering process improvements, new technology implementation & facility expansions

The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment & must be flexible in accommodating business requirements and experience in working with diverse groups and cultures. The ability to multitask & deliver within timelines is essential. Bring a unique combination of technical and management skills to projects, making them valuable in engineering-specific projects.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Support planning and executing a new project from the ground up.
  • Assist with budgeting and cost control, coordinating with internal stakeholders, vendors and contractors, scheduling project activities, and ensuring the project stays on track with its goals, timeline, and budget.
  • Ensure products meet established quality standards and reduce inefficiency
  • Analyze operations and design workflows and production processes to reduce loss along the way while still meeting customer needs.
  • Utilize industrial engineering techniques (e.g., time and motion studies, value stream mapping, Lean principles, Six Sigma) to analyze current operations, identify areas of waste or inefficiency, and design improved workflows and production processes.
  • Optimize systems and processes, manage resources (labor, materials, equipment) efficiently, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Analyze workflows to find more efficient methods. Plan and coordinate industrial engineering work including review of mechanical and electrical engineering specifications.
  • Participate in the installation and commissioning of new equipment. Proactively identifying potential problems or risks, analyzing root causes, and developing and implementing effective solutions or mitigation strategies to prevent project delays.
  • Develop and implement process improvements and technological upgrades
  • Review production schedules, processes, specifications and related information. Design production processes that maximize efficiency and reduce waste
  • Develop design and production standards in cooperation with management and user personnel
  • Prepare material and equipment lists, purchase orders, cost analysis and estimated production costs
  • Design the layout of facilities and determine personnel requirement. Train staff for new processes and provide instructions and manuals
  • Ergonomic production workstation design. Improvement of work processes with takt planning and line balancing
  • Documentation of standard production process in the process pla. Analysis and optimization of series processes
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 12+ years of extensive experience in industrial engineering field, with specific experience in greenfield or new facility projects preferred.
  • Deep understanding of industrial processes such as production, logistics, Supply chain management, and quality management
  • Knowledge of process optimization and automation such as mathematical methods, simulation, and process modeling
  • Expertise in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Basic knowledge of engineering drawing.
  • Good knowledge of SAP/S4HANA / ERP System
  • Proficiency in industrial engineering software, such as AutoCAD, and analytical tools like Microsoft Excel.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills & sound interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
