Job Purpose & Context:
Every new product developed internally or through licensed solutions calls for heavy engineering involvement particularly from CPE team for maintaining drawings and BOMs in LE TC+NX format, as well as continued contract engineering support. The role of the Current Product team is expanding significantly, and it now deals not just with our Sales and Factories but with various other front-end teams as well as our business partners and customers directly.

This role takes central responsibility for integrating all new products into LE portfolio / configurator and supporting the licensed solutions team. This role will be responsible for Product Life Cycle Management, Standardisation, Cost Reduction Activities, Contract Engineering, among others.
Location:
The role will be based at Vadodara in India. Visits to Lucy offices and customers in UK and overseas locations will also be required.

Key Accountabilities:
- Work with the NPD team to identify, evaluate and customize plans for integrating new products into Lucy Product Portfolio and plan CPE activities accordingly. Measured by: List of Products, Plans and Evaluations
- Work with engineering teams (NPD, CPE and Industrialisation) in phase 4 and coordinate engineering activities like availability of technical data, standardisation and CR activities, configurator implementation, test matrix updates, contract engineering plan, etc. Measured by: Technical data in NX+TC, Configurator plans, trackers, Contract Engineering
- Work with engineering teams and HR to ensure availability of resources for CPE activities for all new products at the right time and with the right skills. Measured by: Project Plans, Resource Matrix
- Ensure that all CPE requirements for all new products are captured, and all communication and technical documentation are maintained, and all trackers are updated. Ensure that all identified actions are tracked to closure through various functions. Measured by: Technical Documentation, Project Trackers
- Ensure that the NPD process is updated to include CPE part during development stage. This process is created, customized and followed for integrating new products into CPE. Ensure that limitations and improvements for this process are actively captured, and the process is continuously improved. Measured by: Process Document, Process Improvements.
- Prepare regular reports like Monthly Management Report, Quarterly Forecasts in accordance with business priorities and under the direction of Global Engineering Director. Measured by: Monthly Report, Forecasts
- Mentor and help team maintain the level of competencies needed for present and future projects. Carry out skill evaluation, identify skill gaps and work with Learning and Development to fill those. Measured by: Skills Mapping, Training Plans, Training Records, Mentoring
- To ensure team constantly explores and uses relevant efficiency and quality improvements tools like DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, Lucy CAD tools and supports other functions. Measured by: No of DFMEAs, participating in PFMEAs, APQP and PPAP activities

Job Context:

This position is responsible for coordinating the implementation of new Products into Lucy Electric Portfolio. This includes working closely within engineering teams as well as cross-functional teams like LS, Manufacturing, QA, Purchase, GP and SCM, and coordinating as well as being fully responsible for activities within the Engineering.

This position will also establish process and continuously improve it for implementing new products into CPE fold and will be responsible for maintaining all communications, technical and financial documentation as well as all project trackers – monitoring and closures of all action items.
Additional responsibilities include regular progress reports for all running projects, attending review meetings, and keeping all information up to date with project managers. Further, this position is responsible for making workforce plans, recruiting and retaining manpower, skills mapping, enhancements and all training or other intervention related activities for CPE team. Finally, identifying and implementing process improvements, identifying, implementing and improving various KPIs and making long-term strategies, effectively communicating and implementing these in the team is also a key attribute of this role.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Minimum Qualification: Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical / Mechanical with MV/LV switchgear background
Minimum Experience: 15 or more years of experience

Functional Competencies
• Experience and demonstrated achievement in design of low and medium voltage switchgear (415V – 40.5kV)
• Experience as technical project leader or technical expert or technical Manager
• Excellent knowledge of dielectric performance, temp rise in air and SF6
• Understanding of relevant IEC standards
• Mechanical skills enabling accurate mechanical assembly
• Ability to demonstrate success in driving through product cost optimization projects meeting targets and deadlines
• Basic knowledge of Risk management
• Knowledge and experience of CAD 2D/3D packages
• Strong IT skills

Other Desired Competencies:
• Experience in RMU development
• Experience in Overhead line equipment development
• Knowledge of steel material properties
• Knowledge and experience of Lean manufacturing
• Experience of Welding process
• Experience of Thermoset and Thermoplastic moulding
• Extended knowledge of Risk management
