To perform dimensional, visual, and functional inspections of components and assemblies using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and conventional measuring instruments. Ensure products comply with customer specifications, engineering drawings, quality standards, and regulatory requirements throughout incoming, in-process, and final inspection stages.
Key Responsibilities
CMM Inspection Activities
Perform dimensional inspections using CMM equipment according to approved programs and inspection plans.
Execute measurement programs and verify results against engineering drawings and specifications as per Inspection and Test plan.
Support CMM program validation and report any discrepancies.
Interpret CMM reports and communicate findings to production and quality teams.
Ensure proper calibration status of CMM equipment before use.
Maintain CMM measurement records and inspection reports.
Incoming Inspection
Inspect incoming raw materials, purchased parts, and subcontracted components.
Verify dimensions, appearance, material certifications, and documentation.
Identify and segregate non-conforming materials.
Raise inspection reports and communicate quality concerns to suppliers through appropriate channels.
In-Process Inspection
Conduct stage inspections during manufacturing processes.
Verify critical dimensions, tolerances, and process requirements.
Ensure production processes comply with control plans and work instructions.
Provide immediate feedback to operators and supervisors regarding quality issues.
Final Inspection
Perform final dimensional and visual inspections before product release.
Verify product conformity to customer drawings and specifications.
Review inspection records and quality documentation.
Support final product approval and shipment release activities.
Non-Conformance Management
Identify, document, and report non-conforming products.
Prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Assist Quality Engineers during root cause investigations.
Verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
Measurement & Testing Equipment Control
Use and maintain measuring instruments such as:
CMM
Vernier Calipers
Micrometers
Height Gauges
Thread Gauges
Plug Gauges
Surface Roughness Testers
Paint Thickness tested
Hardness Tester
Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated and handled properly.
Report damaged or out-of-calibration equipment.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate inspection records and reports.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection standards.
Update quality tracking systems and databases.
Support internal and external audits by providing inspection records and evidence.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma activities.
Recommend improvements to inspection methods and quality controls.
Assist in reducing scrap, rework, and customer complaints.

Inspection accuracy
CMM utilization and effectiveness
First Pass Yield (FPY)
Reduction in inspection-related errors
Number of customer complaints related to inspection escapes
Timely completion of inspections
Compliance to calibration requirements
NCR closure support effectiveness
Education & Qualifications
Essential
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
Training in CMM operation.
Experience
Required
2-5 years of experience in quality inspection within manufacturing environments.
