The Opportunity

Hitachi Energy. is seeking a skilled Controls Design Engineer to design, develop, and implement advanced controls and monitoring panels for Power transformers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

How Youll Make An Impact

  • Develop and refine detailed Controls design, including hardware and software specifications, for Power transformers. Create and maintain comprehensive electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers to integrate control systems seamlessly.
  • Develop and support functional testing plans for new control cabinets, including on-site startup, calibration, and performance tuning.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing control panels, identifying root causes of issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in controls engineering, proposing and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including functional specifications, test plans and work instructions.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide expert feedback to ensure designs meet project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, Automation Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in controls or panel design, programming, and implementation in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
  • Solid knowledge of Electrical schematics; PID control, and motor control principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of IEEE, UL508 and NFPA70 standards.
  • Basic understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel to other Hitachi factories when required.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
