About The Role

The Financial Analyst II position at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a fully remote opportunity, requiring the candidate to reside in California prior to the start date. This role is integral to the financial health and operational efficiency of the hospital’s departments. The Financial Analyst II will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The role involves performing advanced accounting tasks such as maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, reviewing journal entries, and ensuring that all financial transactions adhere to CHLA policies and accounting standards. Additionally, the analyst will oversee the review, coordination, and reconciliation of grant reimbursements to ensure accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. Supporting audit readiness by preparing schedules, substantiating account balances, and providing documentation for internal and external audits is also a key responsibility. The analyst will assist in the development of departmental budgets, financial forecasting, and variance analysis, contributing to the hospital’s strategic financial planning. This position requires moderate supervision, strong analytical skills, sound accounting judgment, and a thorough understanding of financial procedures. The successful candidate will play a vital role in strengthening internal controls, ensuring compliance, and promoting sound financial practices aligned with organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience in Financial Analysis, Post Award, or Research Administration preferred
  • Experience working within a hospital or higher education institute advantageous
  • Accounts Receivable experience is a plus
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, analyze, and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Review and process journal entries, ensuring adherence to policies and standards
  • Coordinate and reconcile grant reimbursements, ensuring proper documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Support audit processes by preparing schedules, substantiating account balances, and providing necessary documentation
  • Assist in the preparation of departmental budgets, variance analyses, and financial forecasts
  • Contribute to cash flow management and financial analytical reviews of departmental activities
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
  • Promote sound financial practices and recommend process improvements
