Risk Consulting – MENA FS Risk – Regulatory Compliance - Senior Consultant

EY GDS Risk Consulting is a unique, industry-focused business unit that provides a broad range of integrated services that leverage deep industry experience with strong functional capability and product knowledge. MENA risk consulting practice provides integrated consulting services to financial institutions and other capital markets participants, including commercial banks, investment banks.

About The Role

As a Senior Consultant in our Financial Services Risk and Compliance team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, risk-based internal audits across banking and financial institutions across MENA region. You will assess the effectiveness of internal controls, regulatory compliance, and governance assessments for processes, helping clients enhance governance and meet supervisory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead internal audit and compliance engagements for banks, insurers, and fintech’s across MENA.
  • Conduct regulatory gap assessments (e.g., AML/KYC, Basel III, IFRS 9, FATCA/CRS).
  • Develop audit plans, risk control matrices, and testing strategies tailored to local regulatory frameworks.
  • Present findings and recommendations to CXOs and audit committees.
  • Support regulatory remediation programs and enterprise risk transformation initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance compliance processes, systems, and controls.
  • Contribute to sustainability and efficiency improvements within the Regulatory Compliance function.
  • Provide subject matter support on new and amended regulations and their practical application.
  • Monitor key regulatory compliance risks and support mitigation efforts across the branch.
  • Assist in preparing for regulatory inspections and onsite visits.
  • Draft and communicate regulatory updates and guidance across the branch.
  • Support delivery of compliance training sessions in line with the Compliance Training Program.
  • Participate in regulatory compliance projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in managing relationships with regulatory authorities and law enforcement bodies.
  • Contribute to closure of internal audit findings related to regulatory compliance.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Master’s degree in business administration (finance, economics) with at least 3-6 years of relevant work experience of which 2-3 years in financial services
  • Exceptional command on spoken and written English
  • Globally mobile and flexible to travel to onsite locations at a short notice
  • Highly analytical, organised and meticulous consulting skills
  • Demonstrating and applying strong project management skills, inspiring teamwork and responsibility with engagement team members
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure with commitment to deliver under tight deadline
  • Attention to detail and quality assurance
  • Proficient in MS-Office Suite, data analysis & validation
