Product Quality Engineering Manager Private Brands

Amazon Private Brands Product Quality team is looking for a smart, hard-working and creative member for our Shenzhen office. The successful candidate will show excellent judgment and instincts in decision making and proactively and continually improve their level of knowledge about Amazons business, its platform, and relevant technologies. This is an exciting and challenging position that provides quality support as a subject matter expert (SME) to ensure products meet global safety standards and customer expectations.

The position is responsible for Amazons worldwide quality program for Hardline categories focusing on the quality area. By supporting quality improvement approaches while creating innovative solutions that move at internet speed. This position will have an opportunity to apply SME knowledge in new and exciting ways. We are looking for a talented expert in Quality & Product Development who has direct experience with product quality requirements, new product introduction, manufacturing operations, testing and quality strategies to support our rapidly growing and evolving business.

Key job responsibilities

• Ensure products continuously comply with Amazon’s quality, performance, reliability, as well as relevant safety and regulatory requirements worldwide
• Implement and apply Amazon Private Brand quality systems throughout the product life cycle
• Facilitate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) as a framework and decision logic to define the testing depth, resources, budget, and SLAs required to deliver the right product to our customers
• Plan and supervise product benchmark testing for establishing product specifications and claims
• Develop usability testing plan and validate the corrective actions effectiveness
• Drive the implementation and accuracy of Quality Metric Trend Detection and implement preventive measures in upstream product development activities
• Continuously refine test methods and protocols with 3rd party testing agencies
• Monitor performance of 3rd party testing agencies
• Provide full visibility to internal stakeholders
• Develop best-in-class processes and systems, and drive continual improvement
• Drive scalable business solutions on product development and quality monitoring processes
• Work proactively with all stakeholders worldwide for product development, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, material engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields
• 5+ years of Design/Innovation, research & development, manufacturing, process, industrial engineering, or related experience
• Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience working with customers with a passion for delivering exceptional service
• Experience working with technical and non-technical business owners/partners to overcome obstacles and deliver results
• Must be able to think creatively and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Process and data driven oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to use Word, Excel, and other common desktop software applications. Must also be comfortable learning web applications and proprietary software
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in root cause analysis and error correction, identifying changes to procedures and systems to implement long-term fixes and avoid repeating issues
• Postgraduate or PhD degree in Engineering or Science discipline
• Provide product technical insight during product planning and product development
• Hands on experience with Design Failure Mode Effective Analysis (D-FMEA), Process Failure Mode Effective Analysis (P-FMEA), Design of experience (DoE)
• Excellent business judgment, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done
• Previous experience in retail consumer space for general, furniture, Textiles, home/kitchen non-electric, and/or electrics home/kitchen
• Creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems that may not have one clear answer
• Key competencies: A-Z process ownership; deals well with ambiguity, functions well and can clearly define processes in loosely structured situations; comfortable with following up on actions from others and closing the loop
• Hands-on experience in data analysis or Generative AI
