POSITION

This role drives global payroll service excellence and operational efficiency across our HR Shared Services organization. The incumbent will ensure compliant, accurate, and scalable payroll delivery across multiple countries while leading continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service quality, reduce costs, and improve employee experience.

The Senior Manager will serve as the global payroll subject matter expert and process transformation leader, focused on standardization, automation, and service delivery optimization across the employee lifecycle.

CHALLENGE

Global Payroll Operations

  • Own and govern global payroll service delivery across multiple geographies (Americas, EMEA, APAC)
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing in accordance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements
  • Establish and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and service quality controls to maintain high-accuracy standards
  • Lead payroll audits (internal, external, statutory) and ensure timely remediation of audit findings
  • Oversee payroll accounting, reconciliations, variance analysis, and month-end close coordination with Finance teams
  • Manage payroll escalations, complex case resolution, and tier-2/tier-3 employee queries. Manage payroll escalations, complex cases, and employee queries at a global level.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with global payroll vendors and in-country service providers (e.g., ADP, Alight, SD Worx, Paychex)
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders including HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence (COEs), Finance, Legal, and IT
  • Influence senior leadership through data-driven insights, risk assessments, and service improvement recommendations
  • Serve as primary point of contact for payroll-related vendor governance and contract compliance

HR Operations Process Excellence

  • Lead process excellence initiatives across Employee Lifecycle Services including hire-to-retire processes, employee data management, benefits administration, and payroll operations
  • Identify opportunities for process simplification, standardization, and optimization across global HR service delivery
  • Implement continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to drive operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain global Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process documentation, RACI matrices, and service delivery frameworks
  • Track and report on service performance metrics, cost per transaction, productivity improvements, and efficiency gains

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong expertise in global payroll operations, including multi-country payroll models.
  • Deep understanding of statutory compliance, tax regulations, and labor laws across geographies.
  • Experience with global payroll vendors (e.g., ADP, EY, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS and payroll systems (Workday, SAP, Oracle, SuccessFactors, etc.).
  • Strong process excellence mindset with exposure to automation, RPA, and digital HR solutions.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with dashboards, analytics, and reporting tools.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in a global operating model.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with a strong control and compliance mindset.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Certifications such as CPP, FPC, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), Lean, PMP , or equivalent are an advantage

PERSPECTIVE

  • 8-10 years of experience in HR Operations or Payroll, with at least 5+ years managing global payroll.
  • Proven experience in process excellence, transformation, or shared services environments.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders

  • Payroll accuracy and on-time delivery (near-zero errors).
  • Compliance adherence and audit outcomes.
  • Reduction in payroll and HR operations defects and cycle times.
  • Successful implementation of automation and process optimization initiatives.

LOCATION, MOBILITY, INCENTIVE

The attractive remuneration is in line with the market and, in addition to a fixed monthly salary, all necessary work equipment and mobility, will also include an annual or multi-year bonus.

The role can be based in Mohali, Chandigarh with occasional travel.
