Summary Section

Negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers for the procurement of goods, services and supplies. Takes responsibility for purchases in support of customer-related business processes or for internal use. Discusses defects and delivery problems with suppliers, and is responsible for negotiating refunds. Coordinates with operations, maintenance, warehouse and engineering to ensure proper scheduling and movement of goods and supplies. Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices. Uses experience and problem solving skills to develop and improve processes. May provide guidance to less experienced team members.

Responsibilities

Develop and prepare solicitation documents (RFP/RFQ).

  • Negotiate price, specifications, delivery dates, payment terms, terms & conditions, and other elements of the proposal/order.
  • Establish and maintain procurement files in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform market research and price analysis, as necessary.
  • Conduct negotiations for purchase order award, changes and back charges as required.
  • As required, performs Expediting of purchase orders to monitor vendor progress including to ensure timely shipment of equipment/material to the Project in a safe and cost-efficient manner.
  • As required, coordinates logistics activities with internal/external customers.
  • Maintains appropriate records and prepares reports.

Qualifications Including Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Working knowledge of MS Office - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Be organized, detail oriented and demonstrate strong time management skills and be able to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects with general supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage shifting priorities.
  • Be able to develop and maintain professional relationships with peers, suppliers, and customers, and contribute to a professional work environment by demonstrating integrity, teamwork, and a positive attitude.

Skills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree and 10-15+ years of experience.
