Job Description

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for processing and auditing U.S. payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintaining accurate payroll records. Performs professional analysis and reconciliation of pay-related transactions impacting financial statements. Partners with HRIS to test on-going system upgrades and implementations that are integral parts of the payroll system. Responsible for managing all aspects of assigned projects within the payroll department. Responsible for maintenance and transmission of complex payrolls. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in payroll systems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of timely processing bi-weekly, weekly payrolls using Workday Payroll, Time and Absence Time and Workday.
  • Participates in peer audit/review of payrolls being processed by team members and collaboratively communicates issues as appropriate.
  • Responds to customer requests for information in writing working with diverse levels of employees.
  • Utilizes various resources to ensure that a complete and accurate answer is provided.
  • Research payroll compliance issues at the federal, state and local level using APA Payroll Source as well as various government web sites.
  • Participate in SOX testing, internal/external audits and assist in providing data requested by Legal, Tax, Finance, etc.
  • Provides skilled technical support, which may include data coordination, data analysis, report writing, payroll system testing. Develops and maintains department metrics.
  • As appropriate, escalates more complex problems and issues that cannot be resolved with the standard work processes and information.
  • Identifies process issues and makes recommendations for process improvements.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Workday payroll systems
  • Advanced Excel exeprince
  • Service now case management.
  • 3–5 yrs US payroll experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
