Job Description

Job Description

As an Business Automation Engineer, you will bridge the gap between sophisticated software engineering and rapid business automation by architecting a resilient, AI-augmented digital nervous system for our organization. We are seeking a systems-thinker who will move beyond simple task automation to build high-integrity, version-controlled workflows that ensure our data remains fluid, our processes remain scalable, and our infrastructure is prepared for the next frontier of LLM integration.

By blending the rigor of professional coding standards with the agility of low-code platforms, you will eliminate operational friction and empower our company to scale with precision and intelligence.

Strategic Imperative

The Business Automation Engineer is critical to building and sustaining a reliable, scalable automation foundation that keeps core business systems connected and data moving accurately across CRMs and external applications. This role ensures automations are built with engineering-grade discipline—version control, test coverage, and structured deployment practices—so workflows remain resilient, auditable, and easy to evolve as the company grows. By implementing strong error handling, monitoring, and rapid debugging, the role protects uptime and accelerates issue resolution with minimal business disruption. Through continuous optimization and maintenance, the engineer reduces operational friction, improves system performance, and prevents bottlenecks from slowing the business. With security, compliance, and clear documentation at the center, this role enables safe, consistent execution today while preparing the automation stack for emerging AI agent and LLM-driven capabilities.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Detailed Job Duties: (typical monthly, weekly, daily tasks which support the primary objectives)

  • Workflow Architecture: Design and implement robust workflow automations and API integrations to meet business needs, ensuring seamless data flow between CRMs and external applications.
  • Version Control: Convert automation projects and custom logic into repositories (GitHub) to ensure proper version control, code review, and collaboration.
  • Testing & QA: Develop and execute test cases (using Playwright or similar) for new and updated workflows to ensure quality, reliability, and performance before deployment.
  • Error Handling: Implement robust error handling, logging, and monitoring mechanisms for automated processes to ensure high availability and quick troubleshooting.
  • Debugging: Debug and resolve small to medium bugs in workflows, providing timely fixes and updates within the automation platform and integrated systems.
  • Optimization: Optimize workflows by identifying and removing bottlenecks, reducing API call volume, or refining logic steps to improve overall system performance.
  • Maintenance: Maintain and update existing automations to align with evolving business processes, system updates, and new API versions.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal security, privacy, and data handling policies in all automation solutions and database interactions.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including workflow diagrams, API specifications, clear code comments (specifically for Node.js custom function nodes), and configuration guides.
  • Innovation: Stay informed on emerging automation, AI Agents, and integration trends to recommend innovative solutions for process improvement.

What does SUCCESS look like?

Successful performance in this role means delivering a reliable, scalable automation “nervous system” that keeps data flowing cleanly across CRMs and connected applications through robust workflow architecture and API integrations. This engineer consistently ships high-integrity, version-controlled automations (with peer-reviewable code), backed by strong QA (e.g., Playwright testing), monitoring, and resilient error handling that minimizes downtime and speeds troubleshooting. They proactively optimize and maintain workflows as the business evolves—reducing friction, improving performance, and ensuring integrations remain stable through system and API changes. They are trusted to build securely and compliantly, while producing clear documentation that enables others to understand, operate, and extend the automation platform.

The MUST Haves: (ex: job cannot be done without these skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three or more (3+) years of experience working in a MNC setup.
  • Version Control: One or more (1+) years of experience with GitHub. You understand branching, committing, and PR reviews.
  • Core Coding Skills: Intermediate mastery of JavaScript and Node.js. You understand asynchronous programming, API handling, and JSON manipulation.
  • Database: Intermediate mastery of SQL. You can write complex queries to fetch, filter, and join data for your workflows.
  • Automation Experience: Experience with (or a strong desire to master) low-code/no-code platforms like n8n, Zapier, or Make, specifically focusing on custom function nodes.
  • AI & LLM Literacy: Basic understanding of Model Context Protocols and how to interact with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic). You understand how to structure prompts and handle context.
  • Testing: Basic competency with Playwright or similar E2E testing frameworks to ensure your bots perform as expected.

Who You Are (Culture Fit)

  • Long-Term Thinker: You are looking for a company to grow with. You value stability and mentorship over short-term gains.
  • Curious Learner: The world of AI Automation changes weekly. You are excited to learn new tools and protocols on the fly.
  • Process-Oriented: You hate repetitive tasks. When you see a manual process, your first instinct is, "How can I script this?"
  • Collaborative: You communicate clearly. You are happy to explain technical workflows to non-technical business stakeholders.
