Job Title: Senior Cognos Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cognos Developer with 5 to 7 yrs of strong expertise in IBM Cognos Analytics, including report and dashboard development, system configuration, Cognos Framework and UI administration. The ideal candidate will also have hands-on experience working with DB2 z/OS and Oracle databases to deliver robust business intelligence solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Cognos Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards using Cognos Report Studio, Workspace, and Analytics.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and BI solutions.
• Optimize report performance and ensure data accuracy.
  
  

Database Integration

• Connect to and query data from DB2 z/OS and Oracle databases.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
• Ensure seamless data integration across multiple sources.
  
  

Cognos Administration

• Perform Cognos system configuration, including installation, upgrades, and patching.
• Manage user roles, permissions, and security settings.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
  
  

Cognos UI Administration

• Customize and manage the Cognos Analytics user interface.
• Configure navigation, themes, and portal pages to enhance user experience.
• Support user onboarding and training on UI features.
  
  

Implementation & Support

• Lead or support BI solution implementations and enhancements.
• Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders.
• Document technical processes and provide end-user support.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Cognos report/dashboard development and administration.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with DB2 z/OS and Oracle databases.
• Experience with Cognos Framework Manager and data modeling.
• Familiarity with Cognos Analytics UI customization and administration.
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Cognos Analytics (latest versions).
• Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.
• Exposure to other BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
