About the Role

The Senior Credit Manager – Business Banking is responsible for assessing, evaluating, reviewing, and approving credit proposals for business banking relationships referred to retail credit. This includes various products such as term loans, trade finance, cash credit, and overdraft facilities. The role involves maintaining service level deliverables, effective portfolio management, and working on appropriate account strategies in conjunction with the business team, aligned with the bank’s risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct credit appraisal of loan applications within defined guidelines and make decisions or recommend approvals to higher authorities.
  • Provide clear opinion and highlight critical risks with suitable mitigants regarding the acceptability of proposed transactions.
  • Assess business models, industry risks, structure, bank conduct, and financial risks.
  • Ensure awareness of proposed products and their suitability to client requirements.
  • Conduct personal discussions with customers to establish creditworthiness.
  • Monitor portfolio including timely renewals, deferral management, early warning signals, and customer visits for key and high-value relationships.
  • Maintain defined credit and end-to-end turnaround times to ensure timely service to internal and external customers.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with counterparts in Business, Operations, Legal, Technical, and other relevant departments.
  • Ensure timely submission of all credit-related MIS reports.
  • Maintain area knowledge to support credit decisions.

What We Are Looking For

Education

  • Graduate in any discipline. Postgraduate degree in MBA or professional qualification such as Chartered Accountant (CA) is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience in credit underwriting.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong credit appraisal and underwriting skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage customer interactions and conduct personal discussions.
  • Proficiency in portfolio monitoring and early warning signal identification.
  • Team management and leadership capabilities.
