Python Engineer

Your role

Do you enjoy designing and building solutions using python for migration tooling and automation using the latest technologies? Are you confident working in a fast-paced environment and driving requirements through to implementation? Do you like to be challenged and encouraged to learn, and grow professionally?

We’re looking for a Python Engineer to:

• develop, maintain, and support python code base
• migrate and transform our existing C# and T-SQL code to Python
• support migration tooling and automation for multiple internal UBS infrastructure and end user programs
• provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new requirements and initiatives to enhance our existing products
• conduct code reviews and test software as needed, along with participating in application architecture and design and other phases of SDLC
• see that proper operational controls and procedures are implemented to move from test to production
• believe in and enforce high standards for code quality, code reviews, testing, and software engineering best practices
• keep up to date with latest development best practices and proactively manage technical debt

Your team

You’ll be working in a multi-disciplined team that specialises in rapid tooling and automation for multiple transformation programs within UBS. The Migration & Transformation team provides change capability for Application Remediation, Infrastructure Migration and End User Migration services within the Group Technology organization. The purpose of Migration & Transformation is to reduce UBSs technical debt, and associated risk, from the legacy technology estate - enabling adoption to the next generation cloud ready platforms and cloud service offerings. The Migration & Transformation team works on large scale, repeatable type activities across multiple lines of business.

Your expertise

• Min 8 years of proven development experience with Python 3.9+
• knowledge of AKV/EVA and Azure authentication
• familiar with scrum methodology
• beneficial: release processes and automation of releases (GitLab CI/CD, puppet)
• beneficial: Azure pipeline devops knowledge
• beneficial: T-SQL
• beneficial: PostgreSQL, Powershell, bash
• beneficial: experience within the financial sector and a record of working across the full software development lifecycle
• self-motivated, pragmatic, excellent communicator
