Java Programmer Analyst - Assistant Vice President

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer/Lead to join our technology team. This intermediate-level position is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robust, scalable, and high-performance application systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Core Java and extensive experience with the surrounding Java ecosystem, including the Spring Framework and microservices architectures. You will play a key role in all phases of the development lifecycle, from analysis and design to implementation and support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Core Java Development: Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code with a focus on multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Microservices Architecture: Develop and manage scalable microservices using the Spring Boot framework, ensuring seamless integration and communication.
• System Design & Analysis: Participate in feasibility studies, provide time and cost estimates, and contribute to IT planning for new and revised application systems that meet specific business needs.
• Event-Driven Systems: Implement and manage messaging solutions using Kafka to build resilient, event-driven applications.
• Database Management: Design and optimize database solutions using SQL and other data technologies, ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Full Lifecycle Development: Monitor and control all phases of the development process, including analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation.
• Containerization & Deployment: Utilize container technologies like ECS to deploy and manage applications in a cloud environment.
• Agile Practices: Actively participate in an Agile development environment, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Code Quality & Security: Ensure all code adheres to essential procedures, operating standards, and security best practices. Recommend and implement security measures based on post-implementation analysis.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and mentor to junior analysts, providing guidance and sharing knowledge.
• Risk Management: Appropriately assess risk in business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Drive adherence to policy and apply sound ethical judgment in all business practices.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Experience: 8-12 years of professional experience in software systems analysis and programming.
• Core Java: Deep, hands-on expertise in Core Java, including advanced topics like concurrency, collections, and JVM internals.
• Spring Framework: Extensive experience with the Spring Framework and Spring Boot for building enterprise-grade applications and microservices.
• Messaging Systems: Strong, practical experience with Kafka for building and maintaining event-driven architectures.
• Database Proficiency: Strong proficiency in SQL for database development and optimization.
• Containerization: Good working knowledge of container technologies such as Docker and ECS.
• Agile Methodologies: Solid experience working within and practicing Agile development methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AI & Prompt Engineering: Exposure to and practical experience with smart AI tools and the ability to craft optimized prompts for development and analysis tasks.
