Let Me Tell You About The Role

As Lead Architect – BTP, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering the strategic architecture for bp’s BTP platform and services. This role sits within the ERP Architecture team and focuses on defining a strategy to full utilise BTP for the integration, reporting, AI, user experience and extensibility capabilities in collaboration with bp’s platform team. You will drive architectural planning, solution design, and technology enablement for the BTP platform.

Key Accountabilities

• Define and lead SAP BTP platform architecture strategy and roadmaps for bp’s transformation programs.
• Architect end-to-end SAP solutions across S/4HANA implementations (Greenfield, Brownfield, Hybrid).
• Provide technical leadership across SAP modules and integration points, ensuring scalable and secure architecture with regards to extensibility.
• Lead scope definition, solution design, and effort estimation for new initiatives.
• Mentor project teams and ensure adherence to architectural standard methodologies and delivery excellence.
• Collaborate with business and IT customers to align SAP solutions with enterprise objectives.
• Guide teams through transformation preparation and discovery activities, including readiness assessments and toolchain planning.
• Business engagement with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  
  

Architecture & Design

• Develop and maintain solution architectures that optimize reuse, scalability, and compliance across BTP services and platform.
• Lead the technical design of BTP-related services and applications, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
• Apply TOGAF and agile design principles to deliver robust, future-ready BTP solutions.
  
  

Technology Enablement

• Be the single point of contact for BTP services, sizing, guidance and standards.
• SAP Business AI, Embedded AI, Premium AI, Joule, BTP, CAP, RAP, RISE, BW, DataSphere, BDC
• Ensure BTP data flows are secure, auditable, and aligned with global standards.
  
  

Safety & Compliance

• Champion digital safety and operational security across BTP architectures and data platforms.
• Embed compliance controls and risk mitigation strategies into solution designs.
• Promote a culture of secure-by-design and audit-ready architecture.
  
  

Team Leadership

• Lead and influence delivery teams, fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and excellence.
• Actively contribute to delivery, not just oversight—leading by example.
• Create an open, inclusive environment where feedback and learning are encouraged.
  
  

Customer Relationships

• Build strong, trust-based relationships across various business team as the BTP spoc.
• Communicate complex architectural concepts in accessible language to technical and non-technical audiences.
  
  

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, MIS/IT, Mathematics, Chartered Accountancy, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  
  

Core Experience

• Experience in SAP BTP services, SAP Business AI, Embedded AI, Premium AI, Joule, BTP, CAP, RAP, RISE, BW, Datasphere, BDC
• Hands-on SAP consulting experience.
• Minimum of 2 full lifecycle SAP project implementations or SAP AI Strategy/POCs.
• Proven experience in architect or lead roles with team management responsibilities.
• Experience in at least two types of S/4HANA projects: Greenfield, Brownfield, or Hybrid.
• Strong background in transformation preparation and Phase 0 planning.
• Proficiency in SAP toolchain usage or administration.
• Valid SAP certification in relevant skill areas.
• Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to engage business and IT middle management.
• Strong solution proposal and effort estimation capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with a collaborative and winning attitude.
