Job Description
- As a Lead Technical Writer, you will own the planning, creation, and delivery of technical documentation for key product areas. You’ll lead by example—mentoring writers, driving documentation standards, and collaborating closely with engineering, product management, and UX teams.
- You’ll also champion the integration of AI within documentation workflows—from prompt-driven content generation and intelligent tagging to automated reviews and analytics—helping the team work smarter and scale faster.
- You’ll ensure that all content supports business goals, meets quality benchmarks, and enhances the overall customer experience.
Responsibilities
Documentation Development
- Plan, author, and deliver user guides, release notes, and help content for complex product features.
- Develop AI-assisted content workflows to accelerate authoring, review, and updates across the DDLC.
- Apply structured authoring principles to create scalable, reusable documentation.
- Ensure clarity, consistency, and accessibility across all content formats (text, visuals, and video).
Content Strategy & Collaboration
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and UX Designers to understand new features and user needs.
- Align documentation goals with product strategy and release cycles.
- Contribute to and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guides.
- Integrate user feedback and analytics to continuously improve content quality and relevance.
AI & Tools Enablement
- Evaluate and implement AI tools for drafting, editing, metadata tagging, translation, and content audit.
- Guide the team in prompt engineering, ethical AI use, and tool optimization.
- Leverage analytics and AI insights to measure documentation performance and reader engagement.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor junior writers on writing best practices, tools, and project management.
- Lead small to medium-sized documentation projects or product documentation pods.
- Foster collaboration, inclusion, and accountability across team members.
- Support project planning, task distribution, and progress tracking to ensure timely delivery.
Governance & Quality
- Ensure adherence to internal documentation standards, content governance policies, and review processes.
- Maintain consistency across product lines using shared taxonomies, templates, and controlled vocabularies.
- Collaborate with localization, support, and customer success teams to ensure global content quality.
Required
QUALIFICATIONS
- 8–12 years of experience in technical writing.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in documentation planning, information architecture, and content reuse strategies.
- Advanced proficiency in product documentation tools.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted documentation tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Notion AI, or similar).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
- Experience documenting APIs, SDKs, or developer-focused products.
- Familiarity with content analytics or docOps tools for quality measurement.
- Knowledge of visualization and multimedia tools (Figma, Canva, Camtasia, or similar).
- Experience in contributing to doc automation initiatives or content governance frameworks.
