Purpose of the Job: - The Manager/Senior Manager, RM & Sales Planning will be responsible for Planning of Raw Material procurement based on the forecasted demand from Sales team, existing inventory buckets and balance order pipeline at TSL mills. She/he would be responsible for preparing the RM procurement plan, placing RM indents on TSL post requisite management approvals, ensuring timely order logging on TSL mills, tracking the order pipeline at TSL mills and material receipt at unit. The role involves very close liaison with TSL unit team as well as Sales, SCM, Operations & central teams for procurement of raw material & ensuring seamless supply chain operations. The role involves inventory optimization, and customer relationship management to drive business growth and operational efficiency.

 

Job responsibilities: The key roles & responsibilities of the incumbent are summarised below:

 

Raw Material Planning & Procurement: Develop and manage the Raw Material (RM) procurement plan based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, and order pipeline. Place RM indents after obtaining requisite management approvals. Track and ensure timely order logging and execution. Coordinate with SCM and operations teams to align material availability with production requirements.  

Order & Inventory Management: Monitor order pipeline at Tata Steel and track material receipt at units. Optimize inventory levels to balance demand and supply while minimizing holding costs. Ensure adherence to procurement timelines to prevent stockouts or excess inventory. 

Stakeholder Coordination & Relationship Management: Liaise closely with TSL unit teams, Sales, SCM, and Operations teams to align procurement plans with business needs. Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate smooth material movement. 

Supply Chain Optimization & Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance procurement and inventory optimisation processes. Implement best practices to drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness in supply chain operations. Leverage data analytics for demand and supply planning.

 

Major highlights of the role are mentioned below:  

• Learn the use of Blue Yonder Platform for RM Planning, Indent placement and track and trace features
• Validate receipt of Demand Forecast for Supply Planning
• Demand Planning level error resolution in Blue Yonder with the help of Demand Planner & Sales team
• Update BTD & In-transit status in BY
• Complete the monthly RM Planning cycle in BY as per cadence for supply planning & identification of final RM Indent Qty. 
• Log orders with TSL for VSM/BPR account, product & plant-wise (where applicable)
• Track Order Progress Reports, material rolling & inflow & coordinate with unit TSL team for expediting rolling/dispatch and arranging alternate material for SKUs which are unavailable. 
• Calculate excess orders and initiate timely action for short closure; follow up for the same with TSL.
• Ensure plant wise RM availability and align procurement plan with changing customer requirements.
• Prepare and circulate MIS & Dashboards
• New material code creation/extension request for GRN (RM/FG bought-out material only).
• Follow up for credit note issuance against RM related complaints logged at TSL.
• Audit compliance

 

 

Key Skills, Competencies & Behavioral traits

• Strong understanding of Sales and Supply Chain Processes.
• Proficiency in SAP SD & MM modules
• Proficiency in using MS Excel for data analysis
• Good understanding of SAP Customer & Material Masters. 
• Self-driven, with high learning curve, Organised, Excellent coordination, Agility, negotiation, and Stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

 

Knowledge, skills and experience (Minimum level)

 

Educational qualifications	Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field from a reputed institute
Relevant experience	Minimum 4 – 8 years’ post qualification & relevant experience
