About The Role

As a Principal Software Engineer at UKG, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and delivering scalable, high-performance software solutions. You will serve as a technical leader and mentor, collaborating across teams to drive innovation and ensure the highest standards of software engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex software systems.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, UX, and QA to deliver high-quality products.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across multiple teams.

Drive best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing, and CI/CD.

Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and frameworks.

Ensure performance, scalability, and security of applications.

Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

10+ years of experience in software development, with a strong background in object-oriented programming (e.g., Java, C#, Python).

Proven experience in designing and building large-scale distributed systems.

Expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

Strong understanding of DevOps practices and tools.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Background in HR, payroll, or workforce management software is a plus.
