Game Developer

Responsibilities

• Build interactive practice and revision experiences that are more engaging than a plain list of questions.
• Build engagement and motivation systems: streaks, rewards, milestones, and progress feedback.
• Design and implement game feel through animation, haptics, sound, and moment-to-moment interactions.
• Turn mastery and progress into something students genuinely want to push forward.
• Prototype quickly, ship fast, and cut what doesn't drive meaningful behaviour.
• Optimise experiences for low-end Android tablets and phones, ensuring small bundle sizes and smooth frame rates on weaker hardware.
  
  

• Strong JavaScript fundamentals with the ability to write clean, performant code.
• Hands-on experience with Phaser or similar 2D frameworks such as Pixi.js or Kaboom.js, with at least one shipped project.
• Strong understanding of game composition, including scenes, states, loops, feedback, and game feel.
• Comfortable building within or alongside a React Native application.
• AI-native workflow for coding, asset creation, prototyping, and iteration.
• Genuine passion for games, with strong opinions on game design, mechanics, and what makes an experience engaging.
  
  

• Experience with gamification in learning or habit-based products, including streaks, virtual currency, progression systems, and rewards.
• Familiarity with asset pipelines such as sprite sheets, texture atlases, and audio compression for mobile.
• Experience with web animation technologies such as GSAP, CSS animations, or Canvas beyond traditional game engines.
• Experience designing for teenagers and an understanding of what feels engaging versus childish to this audience.
