Insurity’s Next Database Administrator

Join our technology team as a Database Administrator, responsible for supporting enterprise database environments through installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and performance optimization to ensure high availability and consistent performance. This role will primarily support PostgreSQL environments while also providing administration and operational support for other relational database platforms as needed.

You will work closely with development, infrastructure, and other technology teams to maintain reliable, secure, and high-performing database platforms across development, test, and production environments. We’re looking for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys troubleshooting issues, improving database performance, and supporting systems that are critical to business operations.

What Our Database Administrator Will Do

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database systems across development, test, and production environments.
• Administer and support PostgreSQL databases, while assisting with other relational database platforms such as SQL Server and MySQL as needed.
• Monitor database health, performance, storage utilization, and availability, and respond to database incidents and alerts within established service levels.
• Perform database maintenance, reorganizations, and resource management activities to support stable and efficient operations.
• Analyze and optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and configuration improvements.
• Configure and support database backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
• Support database replication, clustering, and high availability solutions where applicable.
• Implement and maintain database security controls, including user access, permissions, authentication, and data protection practices.
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support database setup, application integration, and environment readiness.
• Support database environments hosted in cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
• Provide operational support for database servers in both Linux and Windows environments.
• Troubleshoot database issues, support root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability and performance.
• Maintain database documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
• Provide off-hours or flexible support as required.
  
  
  

• 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, SQL Server Administrator, or in a similar database administration role.
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Experience supporting other relational database platforms such as SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure.
• Good understanding of SQL, query optimization, database monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Experience with database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability concepts.
• Good understanding of database security concepts, including access control, authentication, and data protection.
• Experience supporting database environments in Windows and familiarity with Linux systems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
