Job Title: Data Governance Lead (Banking)

Role Summary
-
The Bank Data Governance Lead is responsible for liasioning with Enterprise Data Governance team in establishing, implementing, and managing the bank’s data governance framework. This role acts as a bridge between business, technology, risk, and compliance teams to drive data as a strategic asset.

Key Responsibilities
-
1. Data Governance Framework
- Support enterprise-wide data governance strategy, policies, and standards
- Respond to Enterprise Data Governance team from Bank team point of view for questions about data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models
-
2. Data Quality Management
- Define data quality rules, KPIs, and monitoring mechanisms
- Drive root cause analysis and remediation of data quality issues
- Work with business and IT teams to improve data quality across critical domains

3. Metadata & Data Lineage
- Implement metadata management practices and tools
- Ensure documentation of data lineage across systems (front-to-back tracking)
- Maintain business glossary and data catalog

4. Regulatory & Compliance Alignment
- Ensure compliance with banking regulations
- Support audits and regulatory reporting with accurate, traceable data
-
5. Data Stewardship
- Identify and onboard data stewards across business units
- Provide training and governance guidelines to stakeholders
- Develop stewardship KPIs and accountability models

6. Data Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate data-related risks
- Monitor data controls and implement risk frameworks
- Collaborate with risk and compliance functions

Required Skills & Qualifications
-
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Finance, or related field
-
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in data management, data governance, or related roles
- Experience in banking, financial services, or fintech is strongly preferred

Core Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK preferred)
- Data quality, metadata, and lineage concepts
- Experience with regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of data platforms:
- Data Warehousing, ETL, Data Lakes, Cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP)

- Data Governance Tools: Collibra, Informatica Axon/EDC, Alation
- SQL & data analysis skills
- Understanding of APIs, data pipelines, and integration

- Data quality scorecards and dashboards
- Data catalog and business glossary
- Regulatory compliance reports
- Data lineage documentation

Preferred Certifications
- CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional)
- DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model)
- DAMA Certification
- Cloud certifications (Azure Data, AWS Data Analytics – optional)
