Role Snapshot

The ideal candidate should be passionate about following domestic and international sporting events, possess strong writing skills, and have the ability to create news stories, explainers and feature articles that resonate with digital audiences.

Key Responsibilities

Cover national and international sporting events across disciplines such as cricket, football, tennis, badminton, athletics and other major sports.Write timely news stories, match reports, explainers, feature articles and athlete profiles.Track tournament schedules, rankings, records, transfers and major sporting developments.Identify trending sports stories and develop engaging content for digital audiences.Produce reader-friendly explainers on sporting rules, formats, statistics and historical milestones.Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure accurate, timely and engaging sports coverage.Maintain high standards of editorial accuracy, fact-checking and journalistic integrity.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English or any related discipline.1–2 years of experience in sports journalism, digital media or a news organisation.Candidates with relevant internships, freelance experience or a strong portfolio of sports writing will be preferred.Excellent understanding of major national and international sporting events and tournaments.Strong research, writing and communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced digital newsroom and meet tight deadlines.
