Video Producer YouTube India 1 Year Fixed Term Contract

We’re looking for an imaginative, editorially driven and hands-on Producer to create high-quality video content for BBC News India’s YouTube. From breaking news and live developments to planned and original storytelling, you’ll play a key role in shaping and producing compelling, accurate and audience-focused journalism across YouTube Shorts, horizontal videos and other emerging formats.

From breaking news to planned and original content, you will play a key role in producing engaging, accurate and audience-focused journalism across Shorts, horizontal videos and other YouTube formats.

The role requires strong editorial judgement, the ability to work quickly in a fast-paced news environment, and a good understanding of how to tell stories effectively for digital audiences. You will work closely with reporters, video journalists, bilingual teams and editors across the BBC’s Indian services.

Key Responsibilities
• Produce and edit Shorts, horizontal videos and reversions, including adapting BBC language and bilingual reporting for YouTube.
• Respond quickly to breaking news, identifying opportunities and producing timely, accurate content for the platform.
• Script and edit clear, compelling and creative video stories, from idea through to final output.
• Support the overall presentation and audience engagement of the channel,
including video packaging and Community content.
• Occasionally contribute to shoots and field production when required.


Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in digital journalism, video production or a
newsroom environment, preferably with experience producing content for
YouTube.
• A strong editorial sense, with a good understanding of news, current affairs and
issues relevant to audiences in India.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately, particularly in breaking news situations
and under tight deadlines.
• Strong scripting, storytelling and video editing skills.
• Strong command of English, with working proficiency in Hindi.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and analytics
• Ability to work collaboratively and take ownership of stories.
• A broad understanding of the target audience is important.
• A high standard of editorial judgment and production skill
