Job Description

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be integral to the lifecycle management of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Your primary duty will be to oversee economic feasibility and budget control, providing critical advice on financial implications and risk assessments. You will be instrumental in cost estimation, procurement strategy, and value engineering while ensuring compliance with building regulations and standards. This role demands a keen eye for detail, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to negotiate effectively. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to achieve cost-efficient solutions while maintaining the quality and goals of the project.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare budget estimates, detailed cost plans, and tender documentation for projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive cost analyses to ensure project financial feasibility.
  • Monitor project budgets and approve expenditure to maintain financial control.
  • Advise on procurement strategies and optimal contract arrangements.
  • Work closely with design teams to assess and implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Create and maintain a database for construction costs and unit rates.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contract variations and amendments during construction.
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations and international financial standards.
  • Provide regular cost progress reports to stakeholders and project managers.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with project costs.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to streamline project execution.
  • Conduct post-project cost reviews and assessments for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a quantity surveying or cost management role.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost controls.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating and financial analysis software and tools.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills required for this role.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Professional accreditation with a recognized body such as RICS or CIOB is preferred.
