Job Description

A Purchase Officer plays a critical role in our procurement team, responsible for managing and expanding our supplier base. They ensure the company receives the best quality materials and services at the most competitive prices. As a Purchase Officer, you will be pivotal in negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and maintaining cost efficiency. You’ll work cross-functionally with other departments to understand purchase needs and ensure timely delivery of materials. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities and be well-versed in supply chain management. They will be dynamic yet detail-oriented, bringing a proactive approach to solving procurement challenges and contributing to the overall financial health of our organization.


Responsibilities

  • Assess company purchasing needs and develop effective procurement strategies.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on predetermined criteria.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers for optimal costs.
  • Review and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor market trends and assess potential suppliers to ensure quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities and supplier agreements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address their purchasing requirements effectively.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and services through effective supplier management.
  • Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with business requirements.
  • Resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing discrepancies with vendors.
  • Maintain a robust supplier database and update records as necessary.
  • Prepare reports and analyses on purchasing activities and performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Purchase Officer or in a similar procurement role.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build lasting vendor relationships.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using procurement and inventory management software.
  • Familiarity with market research and data analysis techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
