Job Description

As a Purchase Officer, you play a crucial role in our organization's supply chain management, ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services necessary to support our operations. You will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with various departments to forecast procurement needs. Your expertise in market analysis and supply chain logistics will drive cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality or standards. The role demands a strategic thinker with exceptional negotiation skills, attention to detail, and a keen understanding of inventory management principles. By maintaining a robust purchasing function, you contribute directly to the efficiency and profitability of the company.


Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate suppliers to ensure they meet the company’s standards for quality and price.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable conditions for the company.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain high quality of products and services.
  • Analyze market trends to determine procurement opportunities and optimize purchasing strategies.
  • Forecast procurement needs by collaborating with internal departments and aligning with demand plans.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent excess or shortage of stock.
  • Ensure prompt delivery of goods by coordinating with logistics and suppliers effectively.
  • Handle any issues or discrepancies with suppliers regarding deliveries or invoices swiftly.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of purchasing activities for audits and financial analysis.
  • Review and update the company’s purchasing policies and procedures periodically.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards in all procurement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Purchase Officer or similar role in procurement or supply chain management.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build and sustain supplier relationships.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail for evaluating data and market conditions.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good understanding of supply chain procedures and legal aspects of procurement.
