Job Description

The Procurement Officer plays a critical role in managing and coordinating the purchase of goods and services for an organization. Their efforts ensure that the company's operations have access to necessary resources in a timely, cost-effective, and sustainable manner. This role involves a keen understanding of supply chain management, vendor negotiation, and strategic sourcing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement processes, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors. The Procurement Officer will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations, contributing to efficient procurement processes, and optimizing the supply chain to deliver value to the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for procurement processes within the organization.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and prices.
  • Maintain and update supplier database to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Conduct market research to identify new materials and suppliers for procurement needs.
  • Prepare and oversee purchase orders and all relevant procurement documents.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure adherence to contract terms.
  • Assess supply chain risks and establish strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in procurement activities.
  • Analyze procurement data to improve purchasing strategies and cost-efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to meet their procurement needs effectively.
  • Manage budgets and track procurement expenses to align with the financial forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Procurement Officer or similar procurement role.
  • Strong negotiation skills with an ability to secure favorable terms efficiently.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain management and procurement principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for vendor communications.
  • Ability to analyze procurement metrics to enhance procurement processes.
  • Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
