Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens from patients.

• Record patient's information accurately in the hospital database or logbook.
• Conduct quality assurance checks to maintain laboratory safety and compliance.
• Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety during blood draws.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and delivery to various laboratory departments.
• Maintain sanitary work environment to uphold infection control standards.
• Assist in maintaining inventory of phlebotomy supplies and restock as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare colleagues to ensure efficient workflow and care.
• Adhere to all medical ethics and confidentiality regulations in the workplace.
• Stay updated with current phlebotomy techniques and attend relevant training sessions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
• Certification in phlebotomy from an accredited program is mandatory.
• Minimum of one year experience in a clinical phlebotomy environment is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency in using phlebotomy equipment and laboratory instruments effectively.
• Basic computer skills are necessary for recording and tracking patient data.
