As a Phlebotomist, your primary role is to collect blood samples from patients for testing and analysis. Responsibilities

• Draw blood samples from patients using venipuncture and other techniques efficiently and safely.
• Label collected specimens accurately ensuring correct patient identification and sample integrity.
• Maintain sterilized equipment, following safety protocols to prevent contamination and infection.
• Prepare specimens for transportation to the laboratory, adhering to packaging guidelines.
• Keep accurate records of all collected samples, including detailed patient information.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to understand patient needs and special instructions.
• Manage inventory and reorder supplies to ensure the availability of necessary phlebotomy tools.
• Deliver excellent customer service to patients ensuring a comfortable and supportive experience.
• Handle patient inquiries and concerns with empathy, maintaining professional patient relationships.
• Adhere to all healthcare regulations and privacy laws including HIPAA compliance.
• Assist in training new phlebotomy staff and colleagues as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification preferred.
• Valid Phlebotomy Technician certificate is essential.
• Proven phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting, with a strong track record.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to reassure anxious patients.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict protocols and procedures.
• Familiarity with medical and laboratory terminology and safety practices.
