Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Pastry Commis to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Pastry Commis, you will play a key role in assisting our pastry chefs in the daily operations of our pastry kitchen. You will be involved in creating a wide range of pastries, desserts, and other baked goods, contributing to the overall success of our culinary offerings. Our ideal candidate is passionate about baking, eager to learn, and willing to take on new challenges. With your attention to detail and commitment to quality, you will help us deliver delightful experiences to our customers through delicious pastries. Responsibilities

  • Assist the pastry chef in preparing and baking a variety of desserts.
  • Follow recipes precisely to ensure consistent quality and presentation.
  • Manage mise en place and ensure ingredients are organized before production.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station at all times.
  • Participate in the plating and presentation of desserts for service.
  • Assist in the inventory and stock-taking of pastry ingredients and supplies.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and service.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines as mandated by health authorities.
  • Contribute creatively to the development of new pastry items and ideas.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior team members and interns as needed.
  • Respond positively to feedback and continuously improve your pastry skills.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a professional pastry or bakery environment is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of baking techniques, pastry tools, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • A diploma or certificate in Pastry Arts or a related culinary field is an advantage.
