Job Description

As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a pivotal role in the healthcare environment, serving as the first point of contact for patients either in person or on the phone. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure a welcoming and efficient flow of communication within the medical facility, thereby facilitating a seamless experience for patients and staff alike. You are expected to possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, allowing you to manage administrative tasks alongside patient interactions. Ideal candidates are those who react well under pressure, have a compassionate attitude, and can handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism. This role is not only about managing appointments and records but also about creating a friendly and supportive atmosphere for everyone entering the facility.


Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly and assist with inquiries efficiently.
  • Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls to relevant parties appropriately.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, managing patient calendars effectively.
  • Verify patient details and update electronic medical records for accuracy.
  • Handle patient registration and admissions with attention to confidentiality.
  • Manage the reception desk area, ensuring it remains clean and tidy at all times.
  • Assist patients with forms, insurance documents, and billing processes promptly.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure timely attention to patient needs.
  • Collect and process co-pays and other patient payments in an organized manner.
  • Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers effectively.
  • Implement office protocols and procedures to ensure efficiency within the clinic.
  • Monitor inventory of office supplies and request replenishment when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification, with relevant certifications preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in a medical receptionist or similar role.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in using medical management software and MS Office applications.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with strict confidentiality and care.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible team player who is able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
