As an Financial Analyst at BSM, you will be responsible for supporting financial planning, reporting, profitability analysis, cost control, and working capital monitoring across the organization. The role plays an important part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective budget management, insightful performance analysis, and financial discipline through the review of costs, profitability, and capital expenditure activities. You will also act as a key point of contact for financial matters, providing analysis, recommendations, and support to stakeholders while contributing to financial projects and business improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, monitor performance against targets, and help ensure budget adherence.
Analyze monthly and quarterly financial statements and identify issues, trends, and areas for improvement.
Monitor budget performance against actual results and prepare management reports with relevant insights and recommendations.
Review, analyze, and monitor costs, supporting efforts to control unjustified spending.
Produce consolidated financial reports, including required analytics and supporting information.
Perform financial close activities and ensure consolidated reporting is completed in a timely manner.
Review monthly and quarterly net profitability reports and ensure financial data integrity across reporting entities.
Analyze income and expense variances, identify trends and root causes, and support actions to improve profitability.
Coordinate the resolution of profitability reporting issues and support enhancements to reporting capabilities.
Review accounts receivable and accounts payable reports, identify issues, and recommend appropriate action plans.
Support cost control activities in line with approved budgets and policies.
Evaluate capital expenditure requests and provide financial analysis and recommendations.
Support detailed reviews of financial controlling areas and performance improvement opportunities.
Serve as a key contact for financial and accounting queries and help maintain consistency in financial reporting.
Contribute to ad hoc financial, tax, performance management, feasibility study, investment appraisal, IT infrastructure, and supply chain-related projects.
Undertake additional assignments and special projects as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Professional accounting qualification (CA,ACA, ACCA, CPA) is mandatory.
Proven experience in financial reporting, financial analysis, and compliance within complex organizational structures.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience for non-qualified accountants.
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, rolling budgets, and profitability analysis.
Knowledge of the maritime legal and tax framework.
Understanding of local and regional maritime market conditions.
Advanced analytical and conceptual thinking capabilities.
Strong analytical proficiency and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
Effective people management skills.
Fluency in English.
