Database Administrator

Role Summary 

Walker Digital Table Systems (WDTS) is looking for a PostgreSQL Database Developer  with 3–4 years of experience to join the Platform Engineering Database Team. The role involves supporting mission-critical PostgreSQL databases powering the Perfect Pay platform by contributing to database development, administration, performance tuning, reporting, automation, and production support in a high-availability environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop and maintain SQL, PL/pgSQL procedures, functions, triggers, views, and optimize database queries. 

• Develop and maintain JasperReports for operational and business reporting. 

• Support both OLTP and reporting database workloads to ensure optimal performance and availability. 

• Develop Shell and Python scripts to automate routine database administration, monitoring, and reporting tasks. 

• Monitor database health, troubleshoot performance issues, and provide production support. 

• Collaborate with Development, DevOps, and Platform Engineering teams to support database deployments and application releases. 

• Maintain operational documentation and contribute to continuous improvement through automation and best practices. 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. 

• 3–4 years of experience in PostgreSQL database development and administration. 

• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL, and PL/pgSQL. 

• Experience with query optimization, database performance tuning, backup & recovery, and replication concepts. 

• Experience with JasperReports and report development. 

• Proficiency in Shell and/or Python scripting. 

• Working knowledge of Linux (RHEL/Rocky). 

• Good analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. 

Preferred Skills 

• Exposure to PostgreSQL high-availability solutions such as Pgpool-II, PgBouncer, or pgBackRest. 

• Familiarity with GitHub, Jenkins, and CI/CD-based database deployment processes. 

• Knowledge of Liquibase or Flyway for database version management. 

• Exposure to Kafka, HashiCorp Vault, or cloud-based PostgreSQL environments is an added advantage.
