Job Description

A Commis Chef plays a fundamental role in restaurant kitchens, offering invaluable support to senior chefs and contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the kitchen. As a vital member of the culinary team, the Commis Chef assists in food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring that food quality and standards are consistently met. You will be responsible for basic kitchen duties and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients and basic cooking tasks in the kitchen.
  • Follow recipes and instructions as directed by senior chefs accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station throughout the cooking process.
  • Ensure that food is stored safely and that kitchen areas comply with hygiene standards.
  • Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in food production for all meal services.
  • Learn and master various kitchen tasks, including preparation and presentation techniques.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe kitchen environment.
  • Assist in monitoring stock levels and reporting when supplies are running low.
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning duties to maintain a tidy and hygienic space.
  • Be attentive to chef instructions and willing to take on additional tasks as needed.
  • Contribute to menu planning and development as part of the kitchen team.
  • Maintain punctuality and a positive attitude while working under pressure.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen is advantageous but not essential.
  • Basic knowledge of culinary techniques and cooking methods is required.
  • Strong ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Keen interest in developing cooking skills and culinary knowledge further.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Physical stamina to withstand a fast-paced and high-temperature work environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure quality.
